What is the difference between null and undefined in Java Script?

The difference can be explained with toilet tissue holder: A non-zero value is like a holder with roll of toilet tissue and there's tissue still on the tube. A zero value is like a holder with an empty toilet tissue tube. A null value is like a holder that doesn't even have a tissue tube. An undefined value is similar to the holder itself being missing.

What advice should be given to students who will be attending college for the first time?

Grades matter

You will hear from several people that they don't. Rubbish. You'll find that good grades open many doors early on: internships, dream jobs, getting into a good university for masters will all be come easier with a good CGPA.

... but not too much

I am not asking you to spend your life with books in an effort to lock in on 10 CGPA. Above 9 would be great, but being an 8-pointer isn't exactly a disaster either. In fact, I know a 7-pointer whose excellent skill set and experience has people throwing job offers at him. A good, high CGPA is recommended if your aim is a top university for masters (be it in engineering or otherwise), or research internships at great places. But if you wish to enter the job market or get industrial internships, you are better off developing a solid, differentiating skill set while maintaining decent grades. Always steer well clear of arrears.

Avoid bad company

Despite what others might say, these guys are fairly easy to spot - the ones who think college life should be all about bunking, smoking, weed and alcohol, who think studying is something only the lowest of losers would succumb to. And if you are one of them, change before it's too late (or don't, it's up to you)
